Anti-highway group picnic:

The anti-Prairie Parkway group Citizens Against the Sprawlway will have its annual "Stop the Beltway" picnic at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Marvel Davis farm, 47W066 Jericho Road, five miles west of Route 47. The picnic comes on the heels of the new federal transportation funding package that includes $207 million for the Prairie Parkway, a proposed expressway through Kane and Kendall counties connecting interstates 80 and 88. The theme of the picnic, the group's fourth, will be, "We've got a better idea," said Jan Strasma, spokesman for the citizens.
