Roland Alexander Soucie

Roland A. Soucie, 70, of Bourbonnais passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, IL.

He was born September 14, 1944 in Kankakee, IL to Alex and Bernice Soucie. Roland married the love of his life Barbara Ann Battaglia on May 27th, 1967 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kankakee, IL.

He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Kankakee Drum and Bugle Corp. Mr. Soucie was a welder for many years and retired after 25 years from the Illinois Department of Corrections. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, especially his grandchildren.

Roland was an accomplished percussionist and a member of Ponchno and the Pros, which concentrated on Jazz and Rock and in later years he played with the musical group named the Upper Class.

He will be fondly remembered and loved by his wife Barbara Ann Battaglia Soucie, sons; Jason Soucie of Bourbonnais and Joseph and Leigh Ann Soucie of Aurora. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Jason, Margaret and Giana Soucie, his sisters Barbara and Ken Justice and Laurie and Gary Winkle, his sister in law and brother in law Rose Marie Battaglia Piatt and Gary Piatt of Kankakee along with many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
