Robert Jackson 1944-2026

Robert Wallis Jackson, affectionately known as Bob, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on May 6, 1944, in Kankakee, Illinois, Bob's life was marked by dedication, kindness, and a steadfast commitment to those he loved.

Raised in Kankakee, Bob distinguished himself early by earning the esteemed rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to his character and leadership from a young age. His academic journey was marked by notable achievements; after graduating from Kankakee Senior High School, he pursued higher education with determination. Bob earned a Bachelor of Science from Illinois Wesleyan University and went on to attain a Master of Science degree at Northern Illinois University.

His sense of duty extended beyond the classroom, as he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1973, a period during which he exemplified honor and dedication. After his military service, Bob relocated to Rockford, Illinois, where he began a distinguished career in Business and Marketing at Amerock. It was in Rockford that he met the love of his life, Judith Ann Jackson. The couple was married on November 26, 1983, at Trinity Lutheran Church, embarking on a partnership grounded in mutual respect and shared adventure.

Bob's professional journey continued as he moved with Judy to Wausau, Wisconsin, where he held prominent positions as Vice President at SNE Enterprise and Wilson Hurd in Marketing. His career was characterized by an organized, detail-oriented approach and unwavering patience--qualities that underpinned his success and endeared him to colleagues and friends alike.

In retirement, Bob and Judy embraced life fully in the welcoming community of SaddleBrooke in Tucson, Arizona. Their shared passions included reading and travel--with cruises being a particular favorite allowing them to explore the world together. Bob's love extended beyond people to his cherished dogs, especially Bella. He found joy in golf and excitement in slot machines at casinos and cultivated a keen interest in puzzles. An avid fan of professional racing, Bob's enthusiasm for the Indy 500 was well known among family and friends. Among his often-uttered phrases that captured his spirited essence, "Lock and Load" will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.

Bob's gentle and easy-going nature, combined with a kind heart and unwavering integrity, made him an exceptional man in every role he embraced--a devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by his beloved sons, Ryan Eric Jackson and his wife Jenny, and Deren John Jackson and his wife Kaylani, as well as their mother Vera Graye. From these unions, he was proud to welcome grandchildren Cameron Jackson, Kailer Jackson, and Keana Jackson into his life. Bob also cherished his stepfamily, including step-daughter Kari Martenson, step-son Peter Leggero III, and step-granddaughter Ashley Gilmore, who will carry his memory forward with love.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Jackson, who passed away just weeks earlier on March 31, 2026. He is also preceded by his parents, Harold and Goldie Jackson.

Robert Wallis Jackson's legacy is one of warmth, dedication, and quiet strength. His life touched many, and his memory will remain a beacon of love and inspiration to all who were fortunate to know him.
